Facebook Messenger regularly adds new features. Facebook announces the arrival of Live Location, an improved geolocation system compared to the existing one.
Facebook Messenger modifies its geolocation system to make life easier for those who want it.
Since 2015, it is possible to share GPS coordinates with one or several of its contacts in order to easily meet or make appointments at a specific location. From now on, this information would be updated for 60 minutes to allow his friends to follow us on the road during a short period of time.
Once this time has elapsed, the geolocation is deactivated. It is however possible to manually cut it before this. In addition, Facebook specifies that the application only accesses the GPS data at the request of the user and does not store the shared data.
This feature can be useful in many cases, such as informing relatives, friends or other roommates about the progress of our trips to a meeting place or home, all live. This new feature is not unlike the option recently teased by Google Maps .
